"It's not about creating interfaces....its about creating the right experience" I am Sindhia Thirumaran, UX Designer working with Microsoft’s Relationship Experience Division (RXD) in Redmond, Washington.In my current role, I am engaged in both research and design as an avid advocate of user centered process. As an Interaction designer, I work with the project team to drive scenario based approach for key features, and I am actively involved in different stages of the agile design cycle like conceptual design explorations, brainstorming/sketching, storyboarding, rapid prototyping, creating style guides and design specifications etc. As a UX researcher, I conduct lab studies and manage global research efforts to gain insights into unique cross cultural feedback as well as gather consistent usability feedback. These efforts open new opportunity areas for engaging with the customers and impact the prototype/product by evaluating and helping drive enhanced user experience as well as design for culturally situated interactions which maps the customer’s mental model.Past experience include working on a project with Hewlett-Packard(university – industry collaboration) as a student UX specialist to design interactions and evaluate the user experience for their Haptic interface prototype and interning with Microsoft’s Windows and Windows Live Experience Design and Research team (XDR) in Redmond, Washington as a User Experience (UX) Researcher to better understand the user’s needs, evaluate prototypes and provide design recommendation on the UI through focus groups, lab studies, conceptual brainstorming and design critique sessions. Graduated with a Masters degree in Human Computer Interaction Design (HCI/d) from the School of Informatics, Indiana University at Bloomington (IUB). My interests in the area of Human Computer Interaction include User Research, Experience and Interaction Design, Pervasive Computing, Culturally sensitive Domestic Technology, CSCW and CSCL, Aging and Technology, HCI for Emerging Markets, Affective HCI etc. Passionate about research, design and implementation of human centered experience driven technology, and I believe that UX is all about knowing your users and creating meaningful and fun experience for them, and that’s what makes it so exciting... Free time means enjoying with family and friends, reading almost anything.....or just reflecting by myself! A true taurian by nature, and I love life!
